Why I'm Excited About Our "Walking in Wisdom" Series

One of the convictions that has shaped me over the years is this: God didn’t just design the world—he designed a way to live in it. And when we live outside of his design, things begin to break down. We see it everywhere. Relationships fracture, purpose fades, and anxiety rises—not always because people are malicious, but because we’re often trying to live life on our own terms in a world we didn’t create.

Scripture teaches us that walking apart from God’s wisdom brings pain, while walking within his design leads to flourishing. That doesn’t mean life is predictable or easy. Proverbs aren’t promises, and God’s wisdom is not an ironclad guarantee that everything will work out exactly how we want. But in general, living within God’s design leads to the most meaningful, grounded, and impactful life possible.

That’s why I’m genuinely excited about this upcoming series.

Wisdom, biblically speaking, has two essential components. First, we need to know what God desires—to have awareness and understanding of his ways. But second, and just as important, we need to walk in that wisdom. Too often we resemble children who clearly understand their father’s instructions, yet still choose to ignore them. We know what God says, but submitting our decisions, habits, and instincts to his wisdom is another matter entirely.

This series is about more than learning what to think about God’s plans. It’s about learning how to think according to his wisdom. It’s about shaping the way we make decisions, respond to pressure, navigate relationships, and live day to day. In short, it’s about aligning our lives with God’s design—not just in knowledge, but in action.

I’m excited because this series gives us space to explore God’s design and to grow in our submission to it. God has something to say about virtually every area of life, and growing in wisdom is not a side project of the Christian life—it’s central to it. Wisdom is meant to shape us over time, forming a life that increasingly reflects God’s heart and ways.

This series matters for our church because wisdom is something we can grow in for all the days of our lives. No matter where someone finds themselves on their faith journey, this is an opportunity to bring their life more fully in line with God’s good plans and to learn how to walk in the life-giving ways he offers.

And for those who don’t yet follow Christ, I’d invite you to consider a simple question: Who made this world? We are all living in a reality we didn’t design. And yet, in his grace, God has given us guidance for how to live wisely within it. This series is an invitation to explore that wisdom—honestly, thoughtfully, and practically.

I believe this series will resonate deeply with anyone seeking purpose, particularly younger adults who want to live intentional, impactful lives. The idea that God has a plan—and that we can learn how to align both our thinking and our actions with it—naturally draws those who want to steward their time, gifts, and influence well.

My hope is that this series doesn’t just add information to our minds, but brings transformation to our lives. Wisdom is not something we master in a moment—it’s something we grow into as we learn to trust God and submit our lives to his ways. I want to invite you to commit to this journey with us. Come ready to listen, to be challenged, and to take real steps toward living within God’s design. I believe that as we do, we’ll experience the kind of life God has always intended—rooted, purposeful, and shaped by his wisdom.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, January 4th as we begin this series together.
