Search for a King — Ep 01
2 Samuel 5:1-12

We begin our new series through the book of 2 Samuel by looking at 2 Samuel 5:1–12, where David is finally crowned king over all Israel. While this is a moment of great fulfillment in Israel’s history, the story reminds us that even Israel’s greatest king was never meant to be the final answer. Instead, David’s life and reign prepare us for the true and better King, Jesus Christ.
In this sermon, we’ll see how David points us to the King we must submit to, the mission we are called to join, and the everlasting kingdom that Christ alone can establish. Every earthly hope and “if only” will ultimately disappoint, but King Jesus alone can bear the weight of our deepest longings and lead us into the life we were created to enjoy under His gracious rule.
