Search for a King – Ep 09
2 Samuel 23:1-7 & 24:18-25

Throughout our Search for a King series, we’ve watched Israel search for the king they desperately needed. Saul failed. David seemed to be the answer—a man after God’s own heart, a great warrior, and Israel’s greatest king. But as David’s story comes to an end, we have to ask: Did Israel finally find the King they were searching for?
For all of David’s victories, his story is also marked by sin, failure, and brokenness. Even David’s final words point beyond himself toward someone greater. Israel still needed a better King—one who would rule with perfect righteousness and bring life and flourishing to his people. And they needed a better sacrifice—one that could ultimately deal with sin and bring them into the mercy of God.
The story of David leaves us looking forward. Because what Israel needed and what we still need today is ultimately found in Jesus.
