Acts 8:26-40
In Acts 8, we see God advancing His mission beyond Jerusalem, as the mandate that was given in Acts 1:8 begins taking shape. As only He can do, God uses for good the persecution that began with the stoning of Stephen in chapter 7 to disperse the church throughout Judea and Samaria and to set the stage for the gospel to go forth into all the world. In the latter part of Acts 8, we see a divine appointment that takes place between a Christ follower named Philip and an Ethiopian eunuch who was seeking God. In this marvelous passage, we see the providential work of God on full display, as God uses circumstances, an angel, His Holy Spirit, and Philip, as a faithful witness, to bring salvation to this Ethiopian man. This is a great picture and much needed reminder of the important truths that God is fully in control, active in our lives, and drawing lost people to Himself for salvation.
