Meet Our GenSend Team
GenSend Halifax 2026
Friday, May 29 – Friday, July 10, 2026
This summer, Port City Church has the joy of hosting eight university students for GenSend Halifax — a six-week missions program run by the North American Mission Board (NAMB). Seven of them have joined us for the summer, and one — James Dyck — is a local student already part of the Port City family.
GenSend exists to plant the seeds of a missionary calling in the lives of college students by sending them into real ministry contexts. For these students, that context is Halifax: our city, our neighbours, and our church. They will be living, learning, serving, and sharing the gospel alongside us until July 10th.
Please give them a warm Port City welcome.
What They’ll Be Doing While They’re Here
Each week the students follow a rhythm of training, service, and on-the-ground mission alongside the Port City staff team:
- Sunday mornings — serving across Setup, Kids, Hospitality, and Production at our gatherings
- Tuesday and Friday afternoons — sitting under teaching from our pastors and guest teachers on subjects like discipleship, evangelism, prayer, gospel community, and the church’s mission
- Tuesday evenings — Bible Study together
- Wednesday mornings — prayer-walking neighbourhoods across Halifax
- Wednesday afternoons — serving at Parker Street Food Bank
- Wednesday evenings — serving with Port City Youth
- Thursday and Friday daytime — evangelism training and going out in pairs to share the gospel in Halifax
- Sunday evenings — joining our Young Adults at Mount Saint Vincent University
Visiting students are based at Mount Saint Vincent University for the duration of the program.

- Sunday, May 31st — First Sunday with us (introductions at both gatherings)
