Proverbs 29:22-23 (11:2)
We live in a culture that says the way up is up. Promote yourself. Protect yourself. Prove yourself. Build your platform. Guard your reputation. Climb.
But Proverbs tells a different story. Pride promises elevation but leads to disgrace. It creates instability internally, stress emotionally, fracture relationally, and opposition spiritually.
The gospel, however, shows us a stunning reversal. The only One who truly had the right to go up chose to go down. In God’s kingdom, what goes up in pride comes down but what goes down in humility is lifted up.
